What a Difference a Week Makes!

At least in the belly bump department!  I think it is safe to say she is growing just fine :)

37 Weeks
Total Weight Gain: 27 lbs (no change since 35 week appointment)
Dilated: 1 cm (no change since 36 week hospital visit)
Effaced: 50% (no change since 36 week hospital visit)
38 Weeks
Total Weight Gain: 27 lbs (no change since 35 week appointment)
Dilated: 1 cm (no change since 36 week hospital visit)
Effaced: 50% (no change since 36 week hospital visit)
No, that isn't a copy and paste but fail to update moment.  That's just how Miss Lilah Bear rolls...stubborn little thing isn't she?!  Gets it from her Daddy ;)  Or maybe her Mommy, but since I'm the pregnant one, we're going with she gets it from her Daddy!

And so the countdown continues :)

37 Weeks!

And the countdown to meet our sweet Lilah Bear continues!  And can I just say that getting from 36 to 37 weeks was quite a ride?!

At 36 weeks and 2 days, Miss Lilah Bear decided to send Mommy on a nice little trip to labor and delivery.  That morning I went to work...oh sure, there was a little bit of discomfort but at this stage when is one not uncomfortable?  Then, around 8:20, I sort of realized that the discomfort was becoming a wee bit more regular...like 2-3 minutes regular.

I finally got over being stubborn and called the doctor around 9:15.  Of course she told me to go straight to labor and delivery.  So my sweet friends (and co-workers) took me to the hospital, called Kevin and literally just handled everything!  Love my girls :)  And four hours later, nothing.  Still contracting at 3-5 minutes when we were discharged but NOTHING!  But I have to be honest ~ I was kind of glad!  I wasn't ready...ready to meet her ~ absolutely...anal compulsive, organized type of ready ~ not at all!

I must say, I LOVE my doctor.  Adore her.  Trust her.  I mean she did cut me open after all!  But do you know what she said...she said "No cleaning.  I've already been told about this house you want to clean but NO cleaning.  No lifting.  No exercise.  No walking.  You have to rehydrate and rest."  What?!  No cleaning???  Are you kidding?  You want me to sit with the possibility that she is coming soon!!!

But I was a good Mommy because my sweet girl is worth every minute of modified bed rest that you put me on.  And so for two days, I did a WHOLE lot of sitting.  You might have noticed an influx of blog posts during this time ~ because I have to say, daytime tv is not all that exciting!

By the weekend, I had a little more freedom...though someone was still watching me like a hawk.  That whole "no lifting" thing includes your toddler!  That is TOUGH people.  She is so little and precious!  So we did a lot of couch cuddling instead of holding.  I had a few contractions Saturday evening and a pretty rough set Sunday morning.  But still nothing!  My little bear is just keeping us on our toes :)  I wonder what that means for the teenage years???  Oh dear...let's put that thought on hold...Mommy is not ready to deal!

And so all of that brings us to 37 weeks and 1 day.  I made it to full-term!!!!!!!  That's what my doctor was hoping for and us too really.  Of course we want to meet her desperately.  But I want her to be healthy and if she needs to bake, then I will continue dealing with every ounce of discomfort (and constant restroom breaks)!

So at 37 weeks and 1 day, we had a doctor's appointment.  Standard check-up.  I sort of had an inclination that despite all the contractions, she was going to say I was still 1 cm and 50% effaced.  And I was right.  Absolutely no change from when we were released from the hospital.  Everything was looking great...my weight hadn't changed for the fourth week in a row, but my belly was definitely bigger according to my clothes, so I wasn't worried.    However, then came the "look".  Brief as it may have been, I knew something didn't quite add up.

The great doctor that I have, she didn't keep us waiting for long.  She let us know that Lilah Bear was only measuring between 34 to 35 weeks if she really stretched the measurements.  This is the moment my heart sank.  For those of you who do not know, Soph was delivered at 38 weeks due to Intrauterine Growth Restriction.  But we had been coasting along with this pregnancy with no obvious indicators until this measurement.

Obviously, we have been down this road before and it is scary, but Soph was absolutely perfect and so I knew Lilah would be ok.  What I wasn't prepared for was for her to say that she was going to call radiology and get us in for an emergency ultrasound ~ and if she was measuring that far behind we would be delivering via c-section that evening!  I'm sorry ~ THAT EVENING!!!!!!!  What???  I didn't have my bag, was not mentally prepared, needed to see my SoSo...so many things.  I just wasn't ready!  And most importantly, I didn't want my sweet Lilah to have to go the NICU like my precious Soph.

But praise the Lord, Lilah was measuring only one week behind according to ultrasound.  No big deal!  She is perfect and gorgeous!  And I love her more than words could ever say!!!
Isn't she precious?!  To the moon and back sweet girl ~ Mommy loves you to the moon and back!!!!!!!  Always and forever.

Nine Months

Sweet baby girl -

The past nine months of my life have been a journey that I really don't know how to put into words.  I wish there was a way I could truly express how much I love you.  And I have from the moment I found out about you.  And I will until the end of time.

Being pregnant with you has been such an incredible blessing.  I can't begin to understand why the Lord chose me to be your Mommy.  But I do know that it is a gift I hope I never take for granted.  Every kick, roll, hiccup and tap is a reminder that our God is a good God.  That He is in the miracle making business. Because truly, there is no other explanation of having a precious life growing inside of my tummy, or anyone's tummy for that matter, than that He is the Creator of all things.  I pray that one day you will know Him and His love.  That you will know that as much as your Daddy and I love you, He loves you more.  Cling to Him sweet child and everything else will fall into place.

Even now you are an amazing little girl.  Before you have even taken your first breath, you have taught me a love I didn't know I could have.  Before you, I couldn't begin to understand how my heart could possibly hold any more love than it already did for your sister.  And yet it did.  I haven't even seen you yet and I know I'd give my life for you. There will never be a place in this world you could go where my love won't follow.  No matter what, my arms will always be open, a shortage of hugs and kisses you will never find.  There will always be a shoulder for you to cry on or a tickle to make you laugh. Sweet girl, even if you are half a foot taller than your Momma one day (and this is highly possible!), this lap will never be too small for you to crawl into.

You are beautiful and precious...treasured beyond measure.  You are my daughter and you are loved ~ to the moon and back!

Thank you for being my daughter.

All my love and hugs,
Mommy

Easter Eggstravaganza

Ok, before we ever get started, let me just openly admit I am a terrible mother and failed to take Sophia to get a picture with the Easter bunny.  However, why would I have wanted a repeat of this...
Yea, so judge me now!  Poor kid is just not a fan of giant animals or jolly old Santa for that matter.  Maybe next year, though I can promise you I won't be holding my breath!

And despite my epic failure as a mother and the lack of torture Sophia was forced to endure, we actually had a wonderful Easter weekend.  We went to church on Saturday night to free up some seats for the large number of visitors Kingsland expected on Sunday.  And of course, we couldn't head to church without making a pitstop for an attempt at some cute pictures of my baby girl in her Easter dress.  I don't know why I used to think that picture taking would get easier the older she got...because let me tell you, it did not!

Either way, she's pretty stinking adorable in her Easter outfit :)

And after church, what did we do?!  Yep, we dyed Easter eggs!  I am so glad we have kids because I LOVE dying Easter eggs :)  And it would seem a little silly for a 28-year old grown woman to be dying Easter eggs by herself!  And if I did, I probably wouldn't advertise it to the blog world :)

Contemplating her color options!
 And blue it is!
Though I think she was hoping for purple...
 Dyeing away!
 So proud of her eggs!
 The Easter Bunny has arrived!
And boy was he nice!
Thankfully, the Easter Bunny knows about the $1 spot at Target :)
 Loving her Abby Cadabby plate!
 My little bunny :)
 Elmo sketch pad!

And after all the morning fun, we weren't done!  Off to Chappell Hill for bluebonnet photos with our favorite people ~ stay tuned :)

A Combo Kind of Day

For the sake of being completely honest, I highly debated on canceling Sophia's birthday party celebration (the first of three).  You see, this was a really difficult time for our family.  My grandfather had passed away about a week and a half prior to this day.  And then we were dealt another round of grief when we lost my precious MawMaw just days before and were going to be having services for her this same weekend.  But you see, I have a sweet and supportive family.  One who insisted we celebrate life in the midst of death.  That we honor those we had just lost - who loved Sophia like crazy and who were certainly celebrating in Heaven.  And so that is what we did.  And I am so glad. Because it gave us an opportunity to smile, to laugh and to make priceless memories...memories that I will treasure forever.  So thank you to all those who encouraged me.  And thank you for loving my sweet girl so dearly.

Sometimes I have crazy ideas...I know...surely not me :)  Sometimes these crazy ideas fail miserably and sometimes they are actually fairly successful!  I have to say, this is actually one of the latter moments.

However, as I am certainly by no means a professional photographer, I would like to stress the word FAIRLY successful.

And finally, my sweet, blue-eyed darling girl!  LOVE HER!!!!!!!!
Love her expressions...the little things in life bring her so much joy!

And after lunch and some naps, it was time for Soph's own version of Sesame Street fun! I wonder what next year's party will look like...or should I say parties?!  Can't forget Lilah Bear!  Until then...
