Just about the time...

I need to be getting ready to post an 18-month update, I am FINALLY getting to the 15-month post!  Not sure I even have an excuse for that...let me think on it, and I'm sure I can come up with something :)

At 15-months, Sophie was 31.77' in height (81.32%ile) and weighed in at a whopping 20 lbs 15.5 oz (17.17%ile).  I know ~ this isn't all that "whopping" but she broke the 20 lb mark folks!  This is a serious accomplishment, and if I was a good mother, I should probably put this in the appropriate section of her baby book.  However, I haven't been very diligent about that little, vital, life-documenting book.  Hopefully, this blog will be acceptable to her at a later date.  Otherwise, I may have completely traumatized her for the rest of her life.

Oh, and she has a head size of 18.43" (72.22%ile).   I really have no idea what this means.  Maybe I should ask or Google it at some point.  Seems like she is in a good percentile though, so for now I'll just let it role!

At this appointment, our new pediatrician recommended getting Soph tested for anemia.  When they said draw blood, I thought at first she meant just a finger squeeze.  However, that is not exactly what she meant!  Thankfully, she warned me that this would be like a "real" blood draw ~ aka in the arm :(  Even knowing it was coming, did NOTHING to help with the heartwrenching moments to be endured.  The nurse was so sweet and my baby was such a trooper, but I KNOW that hurt and I HATED not being able to take her pain away ;(

Of course, she got a special bandaid to cover up her "bo-bo" ~ which she promptly wanted to rip off.  I think she was curious to see what all the pain and needle pricking resulted in.  I can't say I blame her!  Her special bandaid ended up only lasting a couple of minutes, and then the nurse just removed it for her.  I figured at that point, you want the bandaid off, I am totally fine with that ~ provided the bleeding had stopped of course!

Now if this doesn't make you feel bad for her, well...I just don't know what to think! Cause for me, even nearly three months later, it breaks my heart into a million pieces.

After all of that, the good news ~ she is not anemic!

What else about 15-months???

Well, as best as I can remember, at 15-months my sweet girl:
  • Had moved to a new school
  • Made new friends ~ Char-Char being her newest bestie (and they happen to look VERY similar from the back)
  • Was enrolled in Little Gym and was really good at it! (Post to follow)
  • Loved water - ANY water...pool, sprinkler, water hose, shower, bathtub, sink...well, you get the point!
  • Started learning the sign language for thank-you and please
  • Could do the movements to Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and Itsy Bitsy Spider
  • Slept with the following items: Teddy, Dolly and a Blankie
  • Oh and of course, who could forget - was a paci ADDICT
  • Began to develop an aversion to meat (this is still ongoing ~ advise welcomed)
  • Was and still is VERY fearless
  • Wore 12-month bottoms and 12-month tops.  Side Note: Short season is so easy for kids who are shaped like her!  I can buy bottoms that actually fit her skinny little waist and they aren't high waters on her!  Oh, the little things in life that make you happy :)
  • Wore a Size 5 shoe!!!!!!!!!!  This astonished me!
  • Adored and still adores being outside, dancing, music in general and video chats.  Technology is a great thing but it's still weird that my daughter actually understands the concept.
  • Thought bubbles were the coolest invention EVER
  • Wanted to be rocked to sleep each night
  • Favorite food = "nana" of which she consumed more than what I consider normal.  She does love her bananas and they are healthy...so...ask and you shall receive :)
  • Is the best part of our day, then and now
  • And as always, then, now and forever, is our sweet, precious, blessing from God.
We love you beautiful girl!  More than you will ever, ever know!
Mommy and Daddy

P.S.  I have now decided the reason for this post being late, is that we were moving!  And unpacking.  And unpacking.  And unpacking some more!  So yes, that is my reason :) Buying it much??? :)

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Oh, girls just wanna haaaave fuuuuunnnnnnn! Ok, now who wants to admit that song is officially running through your head? :)  I do apologize if it sticks and becomes that annoying song that plays in your head all day!

Since moving to Katy, Sophie has made some new friends through school and church.  However, there are a certain couple of girls who will ALWAYS be very special to us.  Even if we aren't physically as close as we used to be, I have a feeling these three will still grow up loving each other...and probably even be Facebook friends years from now!  Oh wait, twenty years from now Facebook won't even exist and that will be a sign that we are officially old.

So-So and Harper Anne picking up where they left off!
Love these two :)
Sweet Harper Anne
Play time (which might include some hoarding tendencies!)
Princess Ava
Ball Pit Fun
Sophie found the infant section of the museum fascinating.
The good news, she didn't bother the infants at all ~ sweet girl!
Trivia: How many pictures does it take to get three girls under the age of two to look at you?
Answer:  I have no idea!  I was never successful...
P.S.  Did anyone happen to notice whose child was the most uncooperative?!  Of course it would be MY child...gotta love her!

Note: Not a big fan of being squirted with cold water :(
Sitting pretty still ~ Such a big girl :)
Last time her bribe was a lollipop...this time a banana.
However, in my defense, bananas were her FAVORITE food at the time.
She absolutely LOVED her little fire truck!
I wonder which one she will pick this next time around?!
Ringing the Bell :)  Look out world ~ Sophie to the rescue!

Oh How I Miss Them!

This post makes me miss my Debbie, Daniel and Julian so much!  Life gets so busy sometimes that you can't even see straight, but the good thing is that you have friends who are so amazing that you just make time.  I foresee a playdate (Discovery Green, zoo, train, picnic, feed the ducks, any or all of the above maybe) in our near future!  Oooooooooooo and maybe some Star Pizza ~ YUM!!!!!!

Ok, seriously, does it get any cuter than these two little munchkins???
My little water bug!
She has absolutely no fear of the water...which is actually quite frightening for Mommy.
JuJu having a good time!
I still wish I knew what they were saying to each other...
Hanging out in the kiddie pool during "adult swim".
Still not sure why the kids have to leave the splashpad area for "adult swim", but hey...that's the rules folks.
 Cave time :)
And here comes the joy of getting kids to cooperate for pictures :)
And we gave up ~ candid is better anyway, right?!

Deb, Daniel & JuJu ~ Thanks for driving to the ends of the earth to see us :)  We love you guys so, so much and are so blessed to have you in our lives.  I am always so thankful for friendships like ours ~ those that pick up right where you left off, require very little effort, are loyal, dependable and loving.  And of course, most importantly, I am thankful for friendships like ours ~ ones that will last forever and a lifetime!  Love you, love you, love you!
