Today was a good day!

That is a pretty lame blog title, especially since I like to have catchy names.  But really, the simplicity of it is part of it's importance.  Today was a good day, even a great day!

Now is when you are wondering why?  At least, I suspect you are.  I know I would be.  Honestly, I'd also be expecting some major story, some super fun and out of the ordinary events, something BIG!  Sorry...it's not happening.

Today, and pretty much in this order...

  • Kevin got his run in
  • Lilah woke up wanting snuggles
  • Kevin went and got donuts, which is quickly becoming a Saturday tradition
  • I got 2.5 miles and a few weights in
  • Sophia slept in LATE and woke up happy
  • Kevin made spaghetti for lunch
  • Lilah took almost a four hour nap
  • We made some super fun flubber
  • We took the girls on a walk to get the mail
  • Sophia was able to pedal her bicycle even with her "walking boot"
  • She walked by herself back into the house (this is a big deal after two weeks of not being able to walk)
  • We played a laughter filled few rounds of hide and go seek
  • We had a relaxing dinner
  • Kevin got a deserved night out with the guys
  • I got some quiet time to watch HGTV, have some popcorn and sit in bed

Boring, maybe.  Needed, absolutely.  Sometimes it's the small things in life that make for the most memorable days.  I will never forget the way our home was filled with laughter and love today.  Never.

Thank you Lord for your gentle reminders to soak in your blessings.  I am so undeserving, but oh, so grateful!

So today, I am holding this verse near and dear to my heart.  "This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it." ~ Psalm 118:24

Bucket List...

Well, I think a "bucket list" is a great idea ~ hence, why I have one.  And just when I am a few days from marking off "run a 5K", my bucket list item, well...it kicked the bucket!

Three days of knee pain and swelling + One trip to the orthodopedic surgeon = One diagnosis of Chondromalacia (Patellofemoral Syndrome).  And yes, that is the technical doctor term.  What is it in regular people terms?  It's runner's knee.  And the cure...you guessed it, NO RUNNING!  Oh and no squatting, three weeks of anti-inflammatory, physical therapy exercises twice a day and lots of leg rest.

Yes, I am sad that my bucket list item kicked the bucket :(  BUT I am going to look on the bright side ~ no surgery (yet anyway)!  Oh, and Sophie started crawling today! So that whole "lots of leg rest" thing, well, yeah, that's probably not going to happen :)

Wishing my fellow Moms on the Run ladies a great race on Saturday!!!  I'm running with you in spirit!

Where oh where...

did September go???  I cannot believe October is already here!

The three of us have a crazy busy October planned ~ Piggies and Paws with our play group, ZooBoo, six-month portraits (how is she already HALF A YEAR OLD????), Parent-Child commitment at church, six-month checkup and vaccinations and Dewberry Farm.

I think I'm going to be tired when all of this is said and done :)  Mind you this is just Sophie related scheduling!

Throw in crazy work schedules for us both, a date night next weekend (YEA!), and a 5k for me at the end of the month and whoosh ~ we'll need a calmer November for sure!

And call me certifiably insane, but I CAN'T WAIT!  It's going to be an absolute blast!!!  Well, minus that one little trip to the doctor for shots of course :(

Hope everyone enjoys the beautiful weather!  Love, love, love it!!!

Can you tell...

Can you tell I've officially gone back to work???  Yes, I've neglected the blog, but I seriously have NO time!  And what little time I do have in the evenings is solely devoted to me sweet girl.

So here's a quick rundown of our lives the last couple weeks ~ more details to come this weekend (hopefully)!

  • Sophie loves daycare but is terrified of strangers.
  • She is teething and trying to learn to scoot and sit-up unassisted.
  • I completed my first bootcamp.  Second bootcamp starts this coming Monday.
  • Running group started this evening.  Sophie loves it!  (Unfortunately it ends right at bedtime...)
  • Sophie and her Daddy had their first overnight stay without Mommy last Saturday.  Mommy was in Austin with some WONDERFUL friends!  Much needed girl time :)
  • Kevin leaves for A WEEK on Sunday.  This during my deadline week.  Yes, I'm panicking!
  • Work is terribly busy (but I'm reminding myself to be thankful I have a job).
  • I've order Sophie's 6-month and Halloween outfits for our upcoming photo session in October.
  • Photography class with Jaime this Saturday.  Mimi is coming to watch Sophie so Daddy can also have a well deserved break.
  • My kid loves carrots and sweet potatoes, tolerates squash, likes apples and pears, and detests bananas.
  • My dog has decided she might like to walk again.  Yea Annie!  I don't know why this is, but I am loving it while it lasts.
I'm exhausted and that's all I can manage for now.  Those were in no particular order and yes, I was rambling.  This is how tired I am.

Good night.
