My Little Farm Girl

Back in January we took a long weekend trip to "the Farmlet" to visit Grandma and Papa John.  And boy does my kiddo LOVE the farm!  Chickens, bunnies, flowers, outside, grandparents to play with, and even a tractor ride thrown in there...what little girl wouldn't be content?!

Soph's first attempt at gathering the eggs.  Sure is a good thing that we had eggs for breakfast the next morning because I'm almost positive that of the three eggs that she "gathered", exactly zero were crack-free by the time she was done.  Guess we need a lesson in being gentle with eggs...hmmm...dying and hunting Easter eggs should be an experience!
Next chore on the list...feeding the chickens.
One of her very favorite things!  And side note:  She has a pretty stinking cute "chicken" sound :)

Can't forget to feed the bunnies!
Day 2 of feeding the chickens...sporting her new Twinkle Toes :)
Notice this time, we've progressed to INSIDE the chicken coup.
Her aim was not that much better inside than it was from on-top of the chicken coup...
guess we will need to work on that too (hint hint Uncle James who picked a t-ball set for Christmas)!
Hanging with Papa
Run Sophie Run!
Tractor Ride...
And yes, I am a worry wart...and yes, this made me slightly nervous!
Even if I did do the same thing at her age :)
Just a photo op Mommy couldn't (or wouldn't) pass up.
I love this little girl and her smile can make even the worst of days beautiful again!
Just see for yourself :)
We are very blessed to have several places our little girls will be able to run, get dirty and experience life outside in the country.  Funny...next time we go visit there will be two little girls to photograph :)  Sort of scary but terribly exciting all at the same time!  Can't wait!!!

Thank you Lord for blessing us far beyond what we could ever deserve!

Making Moody Gardens Memories

Back in October (still getting caught up in blog world), we took a family trip to Moody Gardens.  I had high hopes that Soph would love it, but in toddler world, one day we can love something and the next think it's the worst thing that ever existed on the planet. Heck, around here, that is sometimes a minute to minute occurrence.  Kid has a mind of her own, I tell you!  And it's a "strong-willed" one at that...

Despite that, this day happened to be a good day and she had a wonderful time (minus a few "early terrible two" moments)!  A special thanks to Mimi and PopPop for driving down to spend the day with us.  We are so blessed that Soph has so many wonderful grandparents in her life.  She certainly adores her "my Mimi" :)

Cutest frog I ever saw (for the record, on a normal day I HATE frogs)!
We have since learned froggies say "ibbit-ibbit"...gotta figure out how to get that "r" in there :)

Walking like a big girl...cause you know, strollers are apparently for babies.
Walking or being carried is soooo much better!

Discovery Museum
Colors and books...two of her favorite things!

Aquarium Pyramid
Watching the sea lions.  Later we got to see them do tricks for their lunch :)  Even got splashed a little to which Soph kept signing "more".  I for one thought one splash was adequate :)

She could watch fish for hours...

Precious penguins!

Snack Break!  This girl LOVES her Cheetos :)

Family pics get harder the older she gets...and here I used to think it would get easier :/

 Rainforest Pyramid
I love butterflies!!!

Getting cranky...

He (or she???) was SO still!

Pretty flowers...

Pretty birds...

Pretty monkeys...???  Ok, well maybe not...cute is probably a more appropriate word!

Sophie's first trip to the zoo was...

...well, not as wonderful as Mommy initially thought it would be.  Yes, I realized the animals wouldn't interest her all that much.  But given the fact that she thinks our dogs are THE coolest thing on Earth, I did expect her to be somewhat interested. Needless to say, I was wrong!  She could have cared less about the animals. However, she did love people watching, the other kids and being outside.  That is until we started to seriously melt down.  I suppose given her allergies, that it was approaching nap time, and it was HOT (yes, it was hot in Texas during October ~ go figure), getting a full hour and a half of zoo time in with a happy, well somewhat happy baby, is pretty good!  For our first attempt, I will give ourselves a check in the "success" column.  And hey, we have a membership so there is always next time :)

Waiting on the Sea Lion Show

Daddy & Sophie Watching the Sea Lion Show

Sea Lion Show (which entertained Sophie for all of oh, two minutes...)

Mommy and Sophie + Her ADORABLE Capris :)  Daddy said she looked like she was going golfing!  That should make her Uncle James very happy!

Alice in Wonderland, Sophie and the Mad Hatter

Sophie, Daddy and the Elephants

Sophie's First Ride on a Carousel (Her very favorite part of the zoo!  I mean who needs animals when you have a carousel?!)

Sophie's Second Carousel Ride (Yes, she loved it that much!)

Our first family trip to the zoo = success!
